Temple & Webster

Bronwyn Gascoigne & Dean King founded their company in 2008 with a simple philosophy - to create high quality candles which are both beautiful & luxurious, with as little impact on the environment as possible, and as locally as possible. We think they’ve achieved their aims: each Gascoigne & King candle is hand-made in their Surry Hills, Sydney studio using eco-soy wax that is sustainably farmed, and all the packaging is sourced and produced locally. Even the elegant glass holder is reusable. Choose from a range of luxurious rich scents, all with a burn time of 80 hours.

Danish design is revered the world over for its simplicity, natural shapes and stunning fusion of form and function. Great Dane, with showrooms in Sydney and Melbourne, has been importing vintage Danish furniture to Australia for over a decade. We have worked with Great Dane to curate a collection of original vintage pieces including design classics like the Hans Wegner Cigar Chair and clean-lined sideboards in the rosewood and oak characteristic of mid century modern design. Some pieces are in their original state, and some have been painstakingly restored by Great Dane’s own craftsmen.

It’s always fascinating to catch a glimpse of another world. Hearing Martyn Lawrence Bullard speak about his life and work last week transported the rapt audience to a world where covering a client’s bathroom ceiling in white gold is entirely possible.

Our editor, Victoria, stood in a seriously pushy crowd of women for a long time to buy a copy of the sumptuous Live, Love & Decorate and have it signed by Martyn, all for you. If you’d like to win the signed copy, leave a comment on our blog this week telling us which is your favourite Martyn Lawrence Bullard room, and why.

Entries close on Sunday 12th February, after which we’ll choose the best comment and send the book to the winner. To enter, you must (of course) be a member of Temple & Webster.
